The reasons why games were so popular was because of how fun they were, and how they got to control a character, and they actually got to play games at home, instead of going out to an arcade paying a few cents to play one game each time. A game gets popular by reviews and trailers/commercials, when someone releases their own opinion about a game and says something positive about it, that is when you're convinced that you should get this game. Trailers and commercials are in effect as well by showing the in-game sequences and what the game is like. 2. In the 1980's there was a game that was released by Atari, to collaborate with Universal Studios and the movie E.T. at the time. So Atari rushed this game, and wasn't perfected, and Atari produced millions of cartridges and copies of this game, and it turned out to be the worst game that was ever produced in the history of gaming, Atari soon went out of business after. 3.
